[OntVFR] OntVFR Digest, Vol 64, Issue 17

I believe the pistons most often get seized when they get enough dirt between them and the seals that they won’t recede.  That’s why I suggest cleaning and a rebuild - cleaning to get the dirt and old fluid crud out that has built up over the years and rebuild with new seals since you will have the pistons out anyway...
The first and second pics below are of the front and rear master cylinders respectively from my 82 CB900F.  It can get pretty nasty in there. The 3rd pic is of the pistons; one of them has been polished after removal.  You can see what a big difference in the original finish and how that would impact performance.
