[OntVFR] OntVFR Digest, Vol 64, Issue 17

Hi ARnaud,
Having been forced to renew the entire braking system on a very neglected
Duc, and my own '91 VFR. I'd be inclined to agree with David, and purchace
new/rebuilt parts to simply bolt on and bleed. The number of hours/new
tools/seals/kits/fasteners/tooling it took to do it the First time was
impressive. This is not brain surgery, but on the Plus Side, you will own
a few more tools, fluids, and fasteners.
If you feel up to the task of a rebuild, may I suggest you purchase a
new/rebuilt set of "things" just in case.... then tackle the rebuild. when
you get things apart and see a plethora of green death, and cannot extract!
and make your pistons look like David's, then bolt on the new bits and
call it a day. Then bleed it.
Otherwise, choose a Rainy weekend and start the DIY rebuild on Friday
lunch.
Hope you own an impact driver, a sturdy bench/vise, those would be
mandatory IMO.
Best of fortunes.

The only techs who can enjoy doing brake rebuilds are those who had just
done them a year ago! ;)
